Renowned writer and teacher Carmel Bird will lead this series of exercises and discussions. Participants will explore the creation of short fiction from the germ of the idea to the writing and structure of the first draft.

Plot and Presence – A Poetry Workshop with Jan Owen
Break out of ‘safe’ writing habits. Pace and develop your poems in ways that build interest and reader rapport. Time will be allowed for examples, exercises, feedback and discussion.

Three Tasks for the Emerging Writer
In this workshop Eva Sallis, novelist and Writer in Residence at Adelaide University, encourages writers to enjoy the hard road; to become good, rather than merely published, writers; and equips them with some tools for rugged terrain.

Learn to capture the essence of life stories with attention to themes, structure and style. Enrich the stories with anecdotes, dialogue and photos. In this workshop Tom Mann will cover the nature, elements and techniques of writing short biographies.
